We change + that's ok!

Do you ever just get to a point where you feel "blehh?"
I've been feeling that way for the past few weeks. Just kind of going through the motions and not really feeling bad, but just not great. Not how I want to feel. Personally, I just want to better myself and keep learning everyday. I just finished college, now what? I'm so used to being super busy, working 60+ hours a week between class and work and again, now what!? Just kind of in a funk over here. I've been trying some new things to help me get my groove back.
Sometimes I look at old pictures and get realllllly sad. I always feel like I looked so much better- hair a better color and longer, skin clearer, thighs skinnier. It makes me feel like I already hit my prime and I refuse to believe that! I'm only 22 what the heck!!!!! BUT, at the same time, in those moments, I had a lot less going on. I don't look good when I'm stressed. And then I'm stressed that I'm stressed and then the cycle repeats itself. So here's to us- let's get our lives back-ourselves back and start living again. Start feeling GOOD again. Here are some things that have helped me get back to a good place-mentally and physically.

1- MEDITATION
I'm a big daydreamer so meditation comes easy to me. I love meditating and letting my mind go to a place of no distractions and a pure, simple peace. I use the "Calm" app to help me get there or else I kind of just wander. But, taking just 15 minutes everyday to just breath and let go has helped me with anxiety a lot. As you probably know, getting rid of stress is the first step to living healthier.

2-BOOST YOUR EQ
I just wrote an article about increasing your emotional intelligence for the internship I'm working right now. It fascinated me because believe it or not, EQ is more important that IQ. By learning how to manage your emotions and figuring out how to control them, your mental health increases significantly. You can always google ways to boost your EQ- somethings I have done is taking 5 deep breaths when my emotions start to take over. I really think about how I should react when I take these breaths and usually it stops me from having a total freakout that I would later on regret. You can also journal & log your moods. This helps me too!

3- DRINK YA WATER
We gotta literally flush out all the stress sometimes. I am not the best water drinker in the world, but I have found that putting lemons in my water makes me drink at least 6 bottles a day. That may not seem like much, but it's a lot better than the 1 or 2 I was drinking before I started doing this. Point is, make your water interesting if you can't just drink a ton like me! Try adding strawberries, limes, oranges - all sorts of things. Once you get in the water drinking habit, you kind of just feel really good. And the best part, you are doing good! Water obviously has many benefits, and I've seen them come to life as my skin is healthier and my mind more awake!

4- GET ACTIVE
Even just a little. Like go on a mile walk everyday. Or do 50 jumping jacks or just something to get your body moving. Our bodies are made to move, they're like machines- when you don't use them enough, they start to break. Keep yourself strong and do good for your body. It deserves it :)

5- DO YOUR HAIR
Ok this one is kind of weird, but especially now in quarantine, I have just wanted to wear sweat pants, a messy bun + no makeup. While this isn't a bad thing, sometimes you need to just blowdry your hair after a shower. First, it'll keep it from getting super knotty but it'll also give you a little spunk-just makes you feel a little better about yourself.

6- TREAT YO SELF
Lastly, just listen to your body. We're all getting older and maturing in all kinds of different ways. We're not going to look the same as we did when we were 16- and that's ok. We're new people now, and embrace your new self. Life is a beautiful thing, and so is growing. Think about all the things you have been through and how much you have learned throughout the past 5 years. Isn't it beautiful? Just love yourself and give yourself some credit. You've been through a lot- and you made it out just fine. So, if your body wants chocolate, give yourself some. If you want to eat clean- do it. If you want to eat McDonalds one day and salad the next- cool, go for it. We're not going to be perfect or consistent all the time. Again, just listen to your body and do what's best for you.

I hope you try some of these tips and they help you feel like a king/queen again. You are loved, you are hot and you are strong. What are somethings you do to get out of a funk???

MAKE FEELING GOOD YOUR BISH
